Bible Verses About Anxiety

We are living in uncertain times which causes. That is probably an understatement. The anxiety created by this can be overwhelming. It would appear that the expectations of life change almost daily. Many have or are facing a seemingly endless list of adversity and difficulties. I have seen and heard people talk about the lack of motivation, having anxiety, and even depression that comes because they think it is not worth trying.

The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:1 - Know this: In the last days perilous times will come, which may not bring much comfort or reduce any sort of anxiety when you read that verse. While that verse is true and we see it happening, God also gives us Bible verses about anxiety and worry.

bible verses for anxiety

God has not left us alone. He has not abandoned us in this world to fend for ourselves and deal with everything in our strength. God doesn't want us anxious or worried. He has also given us a list of promises in His Word that we can grab hold of in times like these. We do not need to be worried or anxious but can walk in this day in faith that God will sustain and keep us. We can have peace and joy. We can have rest knowing that God lives in us and is our strength. We can find hope in the scriptures He has given to us.

The following is a list of Bible Promises that God has given to us. There are many scriptures about anxiety or worry that we can look to. As you read through these scriptures, let them reassure and strengthen you.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT ANXIETY

Numbers 6:22-27 - The Lord spoke to Moses, saying: Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is how you will bless the children of Israel, saying to them, The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace. They will put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

Psalm 1:1-3 - Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper.

Psalm 29:11 - The Lord will give strength to His people; the Lord will bless His people with peace.

Psalm 37:3-7 -Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land, and practice faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your judgment as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of those who prosper in their way, because of those who make wicked schemes.

Psalm 85:8 - I will hear what God the Lord will speak, for He will speak peace to His people and to His saints, but let them not turn again to folly.

Isaiah 26:12 - Lord, You will ordain peace for us, for You also have done all our works for us.

Isaiah 55:11-12 - so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out with joy, and be led out with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth into singing before you, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Jeremiah 33:6 - I will bring it health and healing, and I will heal them; and I will reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.

Matthew 6:25-33 - “Therefore, I say to you, take no thought about your life, what you will eat, or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they do not sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns. Yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they? Who among you by taking thought can add a cubit to his stature? “Why take thought about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: They neither work, nor do they spin. Yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. Therefore, if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is here and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore, take no thought, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ (For the Gentiles seek after all these things.) For your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.

Luke 12:22-31 - Then He said to His disciples, “Therefore I say to you, do not be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor for your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouses nor barns. Yet God feeds them. How much more valuable are you than birds? Who of you by worrying can add one cubit to his height? If you then cannot do what is least, why are you anxious about the other things? “Consider how the lilies grow. They neither spin nor weave. Yet I say to you that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If God so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith? And do not seek what you will eat or what you will drink, nor be of an anxious mind. For the nations of the world seek all these things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be given to you.

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 16:33 - “I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”

Romans 8:6 - To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace,

Romans 14:17 - For the kingdom of God does not mean eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13 - Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Philippians 4:6-7 - Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with gratitude, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will protect your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply your every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:15 - Let the peace of God, to which also you are called in one body, rule in your hearts. And be thankful.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 - Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and self-control.

Hebrews 13:5 - Let your lives be without love of money, and be content with the things you have. For He has said: “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”

1 Peter 5:6-7 - Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Cast all your care upon Him, because He cares for you.

I trust that as you read through these verses that God's peace was your portion and anxiety and worry was removed. I would encourage you to reread each of these scriptures for anxiety and worry anytime there is an anxious moment. Please share with others.
