Short Sermon Outline on Giving - Luke 6:38

Main Verse - Luke 6:38

THOSE WHO GIVE GENEROUSLY ARE REWARDED GENEROUSLY

The Bible says it is more blessed to give than receive; one reason is that a generous person will receive the blessing of generosity.

3 THOUGHTS

A. One way love reveals itself is in giving. In the example of Christ, we see that He gave Himself for us because He loved us. Our love for God, our love for people, and our love for the church should reveal itself in generous giving.

Note: Generosity should not be limited to the poor and needy. Generosity should be expressed to all.

B. The expression of our giving will be multiplied back to us. Those who give generously are rewarded generously. The more a person spreads the seed, the greater the harvest. That person is rewarded with a crop that is a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. It is a fixed principle that we reap according to our sowing and that our actions act in response to us.

C. We should extend this principle beyond material or monetary giving. We should consider this in how we treat others. (Example: forgiveness, patience, etc)

PRACTICALITIES OF GIVING

A. Before you come and bring your tithe/offering (pray and ask God what you should give).

B. When you give. Thank Him for the ability. Thank Him for the finances to give. Do it with honour and worship in your heart.

C. Give in faith with expectation.
