Message - 2 Corinthians 9:6

Main Verse – 2 Corinthians 9:6

THE BLESSING OF GIVING

Plain Truth: A person can expect to reap but in proportion to what that person has sowed. Giving here is represented as seed sown (planted), which brings an eventual harvest. If the sowing (planting) is generous, and the seed good, there will be an abundant harvest.

Opposite Truth: If a person sows little they can expect a small harvest.

GIVING IS LIKE FARMING

A. The harvest is only realized in the future. A farmer doesn’t plant seeds today and expect the harvest tomorrow. It takes time. Plant today for a future harvest. Speaks to the importance of continual planting of seed.

B. Is to be an activity of hope/expectation/faith.

a. Just as a farmer puts seed in the ground and expects (has faith in the natural

processes) to see a harvest in due time. We should sow with an expectation and have

faith in God for a return/harvest.

b. Expect to receive a similar return as the seed that was sown. 2 Corinthians 9:10

C. The harvest (return) is always more than what was sown.

PRACTICALITIES OF GIVING

A. Before you come and bring your tithe/offering (pray and ask God what you should give).

B. When you give. Thank Him for the ability. Thank Him for the finances to give. Do it with honor and worship in your heart.

C. Give in faith with expectation.
