What Is Faith?

Faith emerges as the guiding light of our spiritual journey in a world often shrouded in uncertainty. But what is faith, and how does it hold the key to unlocking all God has for us? The Bible speaks of faith's transformative power, as "the just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17) and "we walk by faith and not by sight" (2 Corinthians 5:17). We also know that we are to "fight the good fight of faith (1 Timothy 6:12).

In this post, through the video message and message outline provided below, we look into faith's essence, unveiling its tangible foundations, spiritual depths, and how God works faith in our lives.

Message Outline - What Is Faith?

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE - ONLY BELIEVE!

Posing the question "What is faith?" and introducing its importance.

Opening Verse: Hebrews 11:1

FAITH: A TANGIBLE FOUNDATION

A. Unpacking faith as "the substance of things hoped for"

B. Illuminating faith as "the evidence of things not seen"

C. Showcasing Abraham as an example of faith - Romans 4:18-19

Thought: God is active or works everything in our lives by faith. Many are sitting here this morning, and you want or hope for God to do something in you. By the way, God wants to do more in us than we could ever imagine or understand.

FAITH IS BEYOND THE INTELLECTUAL

A. Dispelling misconceptions about faith

B. Distinguishing belief from true faith

C. Emphasizing faith as a divine gift - Romans 12:3

D. The role of Jesus as the author and finisher of faith - Hebrews 12:3

Thought: We cannot manufacture faith or work it up. We can't try to believe more. God is the one who brings us to faith, and it never comes by any human or natural means.

Verse: Romans 10:8-10

FAITH IN ACTION

A. How faith is produced within us - Romans 10:17

B. The central role of God's Word in nurturing faith

C. Activating faith through scripture and declaration

Thought: The Word is the substance or the evidence. It is the power. God's Word is the primary source of faith. The Word of God encompasses the Scriptures and contains the revelations of God's character, His plan for salvation, His promises, and God's instructions. God's Word is the substance or evidence because it tells us what is provided and guarantees the outcome. God cannot fail; His Word is true!

Verse: Hebrews 4:12

PRACTICAL STEPS

1 - Find promises in God’s Word for what you need

2 - Read those promises out loud repeatedly

3 - Declare them over your life

4 - Pray the promises in your life

CONCLUSION

Faith is not just a word; it's an unshakable trust in the unseen and the promise that "all things are possible, only believe."

Romans 10:14-15 - How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
