Bible memorization used to be a staple in the church. However, it doesn’t seem to be a popular subject today, but that doesn't mean it is unimportant. In this post, we will see the benefits of memorizing scripture and give practical tips for how to memorize scripture effectively.
Jeremiah 15:16 - Your words were found and I ate them. And Your word became to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart, for I am called by Your name, O Lord God of Hosts.
As Christians, if we want to grow in our faith and be strong in our relationship with God, we need to make scripture memorization a habit. We need to be intentional and take the time to review and memorize Bible verses and passages.

Romans 10:17 - So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Joshua 1:8 – This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth. Meditate on it day and night so that you may act carefully according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way successful, and you will be wise.
PRACTICAL TIPS TO MEMORIZE BIBLE VERSES
ASK THE HELP OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GOD
John 14:26 - But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.
Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things because of Christ who strengthens me.
Even in the practical, we are to rely upon God.
God wants you to know and remember His Word; He will help you in it.
The Holy Spirit is there to help us remember (remind) us of what God (Christ) has spoken to us (revealed to us in His Word)
START SIMPLE
Don’t try to memorize large passages at the beginning.
Take simple verses and start there.
7 BY 7
Read the verse (including the address) aloud the verse 7 times a day for seven days straight.
REVIEW
Read the verse aloud once every day for another seven days.
Review verses periodically (2-3 months).
USE TECHNOLOGY
Use available free apps (biblememory, remember me) for organization /tracking.
